You feel like you were born with your engine just revving to maintain and repair today’s complex aviation equipment: jets, propeller-driven airplanes and helicopters. This FAA approved program will prepare you with the hands-on training you need to succeed as an aeronautical maintenance technologist. As a student of WyoTech's aeronautical maintenance technology program, you'll learn how to inspect engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, accessories (brakes, valves, pups and air conditioning systems) and monitoring systems.
Specific Skills Overview
This program will take you through 15 specific learning phases - beginning with Aircraft Drawing, Applied Aviation Mathematics and Basic Physics. You will continue on to study Basic Electricity where you will learn to solder safety wire, string electrical harnesses, and become familiar with various measuring instruments. Aircraft construction and repair and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) follow; then you will get more technical skills practice in riveting, fastening, bending, forming, cutting, and welding. The middle phase of this program covers Sheet Metal Structures Inspection, the effects of metal fatigue and stresses, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Power Systems, Aircraft Finishes, Cleaning and Corrosion protection and repair, Airframe Assembly, Rigging, Fuel Systems, and Weight and Balance. The final part of this program covers Maintenance Forms and Records, Airframe Inspection, Cabin Atmosphere, and Ice and Rain Control.
