Electronics Technology

Electronics Technicians utilize their technical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot, maintain and repair electronic equipment and systems, industrial process control systems, telecommunication, broadcast, recording and audiovisual systems, microelectronic systems and circuits, computers, computer systems and networks and computer software for companies, manufacturers of electronic equipment, consulting firms, governments and a wide range of manufacturing, processing and transportation industries. Electronics Technicians may carry out their tasks on site or in the field at a number of different locations.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can write the exam for the Electronics Technicians Certificate through The International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET), a nationally recognized certification organization. While the national average for passing the certification exam is approximately 11%, WTI graduates have an 82% success rate.

The Electronics Technology program curriculum covers Fundamentals of Electronics, Analog/Digital Systems, Computer Technology/A+, Video Systems/Avionics Electronics, Advanced Circuits/Industrial Controls and Industrial Trouble Shooting/Hydraulics and Pneumatic.

Computer Electronics & Network Technology

Computer technicians service, repair and perform maintenance on computer systems and peripheral devices, and can also specialize in troubleshooting and repairing network systems including LANs (local area networks) and WANs (wide area networks). Upon successful completion of the appropriate courses, students can write exams for CompTIA A+Certification, CompTIA Network+Certification and CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Security+/Server+ Certification. The Computer Electronics & Network Technology program curriculum includes Fundamentals of Electronics, Analog/Digital Systems, Computer Technology/A+ and Network+ Security +/Server+.

Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology

Heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians maintain, troubleshoot and repair heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Students receive training in basic electrical and refrigeration components and circuits, the differences between series, parallel, and combination series-parallel resistive circuits, the refrigeration cycle and process, troubleshooting various types of heating systems, the different types of air purification systems, the air conditioning installation process and how to troubleshoot compressor problems. Students receive extensive hands-on laboratory training to gain practical experience.
