Vatterott College Medical Assistant with Limited Radiography Associate Degree
You can develop the knowledge needed to become both a Medical Assistant and Radiographer with Vatterott College’s Medical Assistant with Limited Radiography program. You will start out by learning the basics, including terminology, anatomy, microbiology, physiology, pharmacology, and nutrition. You will then move into the areas of clinical and administrative medical assisting where you learn about everything from filing insurance claims to assisting with minor surgery.
You can become familiar with lab procedures, such as urinanalysis and hematology. Once you have this under your belt, you are required to complete a 240-hour externship where you can practice your medical assisting skills. Afterwards, you are back to the classroom to explore the field of radiography. This includes x-ray production, and radiological positioning and procedures. You will then complete a 180-hour radiography practicum.
At the end of your training, you can take the exam to become a Limited Diagnostic Radiographer within Iowa. Your practical skills and knowledge can help you pursue a range of medical assisting and radiology related careers!
