Vatterott College Dental Assistant Specialist
The Dental Assistant Specialist program at Vatterott College offers you more in-depth training than the Dental Assistant program. It can allow you to begin a dental assisting career at a higher level and you could take on more responsibility within the office. You will start out by studying broad medical areas related to the field. This includes anatomy, physiology, nutrition, pharmacology, and microbiology. You will then take a more detailed look at dental anatomy.
You can develop strong chairside assisting skills. You will be shown how to use and apply various dental materials. You can also learn how to perform preventative dentistry techniques. The program provides instruction in oral pathology so that you can identify diseases and conditions. In addition to learning clinical and lab procedures, you will also acquire front office management skills.
Your training is completed with a 300-hour externship. This will give you the opportunity to work in a dental setting and practice the skills you have learned in the classroom. Once this is complete, you could take on just about any task within a dental office, allowing you to become the person that the dentist just could not live without!
