Pharmacy Technician
The pharmacy field is especially intriguing to you but you are not sure if you actually want to become a pharmacist. You can get your feet wet and begin a pharmacy career with less than a year of training in South Texas Vo-Tech’s Pharmacy Technician program.
This training can prepare you to work in both retail and hospital pharmacies. You will learn to prepare medications, mix IV’s in a hospital setting, decipher doctor orders, and more. You will take classes in:
- Pharmaceutics and Pharmacy Law
- Pharmacology A, B and C
- Pharmacy Calculations
- Home Health Care/Retail Pharmacy
You will take what you learn in the classroom and relate it to a real pharmacy through a 384-hour practicum. This can grant you solid work experience before you even graduate. You can also take the exam to become a Licensed Pharmacy Technician. This certification can extend your employability even further!
