You envision an education in massage therapy that will provide more than the essential components of a confident, successful practitioner.
The Cortiva Somerset School of Massage Therapy (SSMT) has been offering therapeutic skill mastery for almost 20 years. SSMT is the only school in New Jersey which has courses recommended for college credit by the American Council on Accreditation, and was also the first massage therapist program approved by the NJ Dept. of Education. The Somerset School of Massage Therapy has partnered with Cortiva Inc. to lead the industry to ever higher standards. In conjunction with Thomas Edison State College, an Associates Degree (AAS) in Massage Therapy is available. Completion of coursework will exceed NJ State Certification requirements.
In completing the Professional Track curriculum of 600 hours, you will be fully prepared to embark on a career as a massage therapist. Six months of full-time, or twelve months of part-time study are supplemented with career guidance as you enter your chosen field.
The coursework is focused on ethics and body mechanics, with a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. Comprehensive training in current massage therapy techniques such as Swedish, sports, hydrotherapy, pre-natal, reflexology and myofascial massage ensures that you are a sought after professional. In addition, your value in the field is elevated with instruction in such courses as Tai Chi, CPR/first aid, infectious disease, business skills and a real world clinical practicum.
The faculty of the massage therapy school includes two of the massage industry's most prominent pioneers. Bob King (myofascial) and Carole Osbourne Sheets (prenatal) add their expertise to a curriculum that boasts the latest techniques and research. A Signature Series of enhanced training keeps the Somerset School of Massage Therapy at the forefront of advanced massage education. The Focus Track (Western/Eastern/Spa) is another available option after completion of the Professional Track.
