The purpose of the Barber or Cosmetology Refresher Certificate program is to allow individuals previously licensed as Barbers or Cosmetologists to update their skills. This program is also for any person who attempted and did not succeed at the Barber or Cosmetology licensing exam and has been referred by the State Board for further training. The Refresher program allows you to review relevant theory and practice skills and techniques. You will review practices such as scalp and hair treatments, and hair coloring, cutting, and styling. You will work closely with the instructor so that he or she can supervise, explain techniques, and check your progress. Once completed, you can then re-attempt the State Board exam if needed.
