The National Holistic Institute (NHI) employs multiple-method teaching techniques to ensure students with different learning styles have the best opportunity to fully understand the material covered. Their comprehensive massage training program is offered on flexible daytime, evening and weekend schedules, and can be completed in as little as twelve months.
You will learn a range of massage techniques including Swedish, acupressure/shiatsu, deep tissue, and energy joint mobilization. The program covers assessing the individual client, and preparing a customized program of therapy to suit her needs. You'll learn to apply massage for a variety of situations, such as sports, injury, and pregnancy. To help you better understand where and how to apply massage, you'll learn the basic structure and function of musculo-skeletal system, and kinesiology.
You'll get plenty of hands-on practice under the guidance of your instructors at the Student Clinic, and hundreds of different sites offer externship opportunities to further help you prepare for your professional career. Courses in career development and professional practice round out your understanding of how to meet the needs of your employer, or set up your own massage therapy practice.
NHI focuses exclusively on teaching massage, and they are dedicated to your success. With academic support from tutors, teaching assistants, mentors, study labs, lifetime career placement (beginning with part-time employment placement during school), and even housing assistance, their goal is to prepare you thoroughly for a rewarding career in massage therapy.
