Although tasks vary by type of facility, you will typically find yourself performing a variety of clinical and administrative functions. In small practices you might be the sole support for a prime health care provider and handle front office, exam room and patient care duties. In a larger practice your duties might be more specialized. Preparing and administering medications, explaining treatment procedures to patients, taking ECGs, and removing sutures are some specific tasks for which you are well prepared.
Potential employers include offices and clinics of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors or optometrists, and outpatient care centers. It’s a good thing you thrive on change, because regardless of your place of business, the one constant will be novelty, and new opportunities to learn and contribute.
