
Divers Academy International Admissions & Financial Assistance
ADMISSIONS
Admission is on a selective basis. Each person is evaluated on the basis of academic record, personal and career goals. Students seeking admission to the Academy must contact an Admissions Representative to review the admissions process and to develop a better understanding of training offered.
ADMISSIONS PREREQUISITE
Persons expressing the desire for acceptance into the program must first submit a completed application to the Admissions Department. The application is used for review of the applicant’s prior education and qualifications. It also is used to assess a student’s goals and career expectations. There is a $125 application/registration fee required with the application to be considered for acceptance.
Education
All applicants must posses a minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED). Students must provided proof of high school completion. Divers Academy International does not accept "Ability to Benefit" students. Foreign diplomas must be translated into English. It is recommended that students not able to obtain a copy of the diploma from a foreign country apply for a General Equivalency Diploma.
Medical
A complete medical physical examination is required for acceptance. The enclosed physical form must be completed by a medical physician. The physical exam must be conducted within six months prior to the class start date. The application/registration fee will be refunded if the application is not accepted due to physical disqualification. Divers Academy International is not responsible for falsified or disclosure of medial reports.
Age
The minimum age requirement is 18 years of age prior to the start of training. Written consent by a legal guardian may be given to applicants who will turn 18 prior to the scheduled graduation date of the class. There is not a maximum age requirement. Divers Academy International does not discriminate based on race, sex, age, or national origin.
Campus Tours
Students must participate in an on-site visit of the campus prior to the first day of class. The visit will consist of a complete tour of the facility and aptitude testing. Any questions or concerns from the student will be addressed.
Other Requirements
Candidates must be competent in both written and oral English skills and mechanical skills to profit from the instruction. Previous scuba experience is helpful but not required. Applicant must be a competent swimmer, have a positive attitude and a commitment to succeed.
Personal Interviews
Interviews are conducted with each applicant over the telephone by an Admissions Representative to review a candidate’s application, educational background, financial plans and career preferences.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Divers Academy International has developed a number of payment options that the student may use to pay tuition. Students receive individual assistance prior to beginning their program regarding the payment options available to them
Divers Academy International is approved for participation in the Federal Student Aid Program. Based on a standard formula approved by the federal government, the student's need for assistance is determined. Students may qualify for one or more financial aid programs.
